The Romantic Gardens

Main Garden

The central and largest of the gardens in the botanical garden. Designed with scenic vistas intertwined with winding pathways and solitary retreats, which include benches, archways, and high walls. These small, romantic areas off the main area can be viewed from small seating areas fitting two to three people each. The garden is to be layered with different heights to allow the overlook of water features. The soft colors can be seen as waves of soft pinks, whites, purples and blues.

Flowers in of this area include roses, bluebells, bleeding hearts, boxwood, rosa ballerina, peonies, salvias, lavender, foxgloves, irises, geraniums, clematis, deutzia, hydrangeas, alyssum, allium, asters, lobelias, forget-me-nots, english daisies, lilacs and more. Smaller gardens in this area include a rose garden, a secret garden, and a lover’s garden.

Rose Garden

The rose garden is the centerpiece of the romantic gardens, and is divided from the rest of the garden with tall rose shrubs and archway entrances. Pergolas covered with climbing roses will provide shade on sunny days, and at the center of the rose garden there will be a rose-covered gazebo. The gazebo will be large enough to fit ten to twelve people and can function as a stage for weddings and concerts with seating below in the garden. Other seating areas in the garden will be under the shade of the pergolas, surrounded by rose-covered stone walls and rose shrubs each seating 4-5 persons perfect for teatime.

Flowers in this area include a multitude of different roses, including climbing, floribunda, grandiflora, hybrid tea, polyantha, shrub, damask, miniature, and more. They will be organized in waves of colors and separated with boxwood shrubs.

Lover’s Garden

The lover’s garden is a highly secluded area of the romantic gardens with several cut away areas for small two person table. The area is covered with highly scented, lattice overgrown flowers with near high walls. The flowers inside this garden consist of contrasting colors to allow people to tell they entered a new area. Water features and romantic statues surround the area.

Flowers in this area include peony, rose, lily, butterfly pea flower, rhodochiton atrosanguineus, lobelia siphilitica, sweet pea, white honeysuckles, lavender, forget-me-not and lilac.

Secret Garden

Secret garden is a small garden surrounded with high stone walls with arrow slit windows allow people to see inside. With a small center fountain and benches around the walls, this is a prefect spot to relax.

Flowers in this area include Bellflower, Brunnera macrophylla, Lungwort, Ivy and Bleeding heart
